Honeymoon Top Tips

Book Early

Remember to book early to avoid availability and price issues. After all the excitement of the 'big day' you certainly won't want to be rushing off anywhere at the crack of dawn so if you get married on a Saturday, try and book a Sunday afternoon or evening flight. You might even want to consider a Monday departure in order to avoid any last minute rush. Mid week travel also helps ease on the crush and can avoid weekend travel surcharges. Remember also that ‘school holiday’ periods are notoriously busy and book very quickly.

Budget

Please have a budget in mind. This is to help you and us to guide you in the best direction possible. Do a little research prior to speaking with us so you are aware of a rough guide in costs for the season in which you need to travel.

Take it Easy

Don’t underestimate physical & emotional exhaustion resulting from a hectic lead up to the wedding and the excitement of the day itself. We usually recommend you have the your relaxation time first to recharge the batteries especially when you first arrive, and don't bite off more than you can chew by planning a jam-packed itinerary with to much packing and unpacking. Also be sure you have a little of what you both want from your honeymoon for things to do and see.

Name of the Game

Many brides choose to travel in their maiden name and change their passport on their return. There are many reasons for this and be warned that it is not possible to obtain visas on a post-dated passport! It's also one less thing to sort out before the wedding and also means your financial details need not be changed to match in with your passport/tickets. Generally this is the easier and less complicated option unless you're not planning on honeymooning immediately after your wedding day. Whatever you decide, remember to give us the correct details at time of booking ie. names as they appear first on your passport as name changes are very hard to implement once your seats are reserved and is taken by a vast number of the operators as a cancellation and rebook!

Gift List
Consider the Honeymoon Designer Wedding & Gift List facility and give your guests the opportunity to contribute to your honeymoon, this way you might be able to enjoy an upgrade or an extra night at a special hotel. We have handed back Gift Cheques to our couples up to the value of £4500.

Stopovers
If you are travelling longhaul, consider breaking your journey midway for a couple of nights allowing you to recharge the batteries and arrive at your final destination rested. Remember that selecting a stopover may give you access to a wider selection of flights departing from the UK or Ireland and therefore allow you to get away on the day you want. A number of airlines/operators also give very favourable rates on stopover flights rather than direct flights.

Upgrades
It's your honeymoon, so there has never been a better reason to spoil yourselves! If you are considering upgrading your flights to Premium Economy, Business or, for First class please speak to a member of staff for your options. The Gift List option may also be used towards your upgrade.

Think Ahead
Pre-book as much as possible so you don't have to worry when you are away, for example, enquire about meal plans at hotels where you have long stays, hotels frequently give operators good rates for buying ahead rather than purchasing whilst in resort, please advise us if you have special dietary requirements as often we need to contact the hotels directly regarding this. Transfers to resort we strongly recommend as there is nothing worse than coming off a longhaul flight and having to negotiate with taxi drivers! Ask about vehicle hire if you are keen to do some exploring.

Special Offers
Remember to tell us it's your honeymoon from the outset as a number of resorts will have special offers only available to Honeymooners.

And Finally
We also take the time to personally advise every property just a few days prior to your arrival and add any special requests into your booking. It adds that final personal touch we at Honeymoon Designers take pride in. Lastly. . . Relax don’t worry about the finer details that is what we are here for.
